Welcome ~ Meet the piggies!

Hello, and welcome to Piggy Junction!  We started off a few years ago with one pet guinea pig.  His name started out as Marrs, but now he is just called 'Fat Pig'.  We decided that he was lonely and needed a friend.  Then came 'Little Pig'.  He is about half the size of Fat Pig.  Can you see now how the current names came about?

They love their veggies! Fat Pig is the front pig with just a little bit of white on his face.  Little Pig is behind him.  They are both Abyssinian guinea pigs.  Fat Pig is the most mellow boy.  He can be held for hours and never complains.

Little pig on the other hand, he is more skittish and voices his dislike of being caught.  Once he is in your arms though, he settles right down.  One of his favorite things to do is stand on top of his pigloo.  Maybe there is just a better view from there!

Next of the bunch is Daisy.
She is a feisty little thing!  Very vocal, loudest one of the gang.  She loves to nudge the cage and be pet and flirt thru the cage, but open that door and she runs in her hidey house.  A bit of a tease she is!

This is Butterscotch and her daughter, Krissy.
Butterscotch came to be with us thru an ad on Craigslist about seven weeks ago.  I saw an ad for a pair of guinea pigs.  They each had their own cages and plenty of supplies.  At the time, the price was a little high on everything and I just looked at the ad and didn't think anything of it. I kept watching Craigslist and the price on them kept dropping and dropping.  They went from $250 to $50.  I contacted the owner and went to get them!  They were desperate to get rid of the guinea pigs and I really thought they were cute! By the time I went to pick them up, they had sold the male and his cage.  That was fine with me since I thought she was much cuter than the boy anyway!  I was also going to try to pair her up with Daisy so Daisy wouldn't have to  be alone anymore.  When I went to pick her up, the former owner told me she was 'just fat' and she ate alot.  Knowing that they had a male, I took one look at her and knew she was pregnant!  I could feel babies in there, but I didn't say anything.  I think they were just trying to get rid of her before she gave birth.  Either that or it could have just been that they were bought on a whim, since they had only had the pigs for two months!  About two weeks after I got her, I was sitting at my computer which is only about 10 feet from her.  All of the sudden, I heard little squeeks.  I didn't even have to look!  I knew the babies were here! I have decided to keep one of her female babies and rehome the boy.   Update: I have kept the red baby in the pic with her and rehomed the other two babies.
